Director of Pharmacy | Mapleton, Iowa

A Critical Access Hospital is seeking a Director of Pharmacy to lead daily inpatient pharmacy operations and ensure exceptional medication management and patient safety. This position offers a contract-to-hire opportunity within a 25-bed facility, operating Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee medication dispensing, order verification, inventory management, and regulatory compliance in the inpatient pharmacy.
• Supervise, train, and schedule pharmacy staff to maintain efficient and safe medication distribution.
• Develop and maintain pharmacy policies and procedures, including medication safety protocols.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and hospital leadership to enhance patient care and pharmacy services.

Qualifications:

• Iowa pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain licensure (required).
• Minimum of 3 years of hospital inpatient pharmacy experience (required).
• Experience with Omnicell or Epic pharmacy systems (preferred).
• Background in antibiotic stewardship programs (preferred).
• Knowledge of USP 797/800 standards (preferred).
