This pharmacy leadership role offers the opportunity to serve as the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge at a specialized behavioral hospital in New Lenox, IL. The current Director is transitioning out of this leadership role while remaining active as a pharmacist, creating a smooth leadership handover. This position is a contract assignment starting mid-August until a permanent candidate is selected.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily pharmacy operations with a focus on staffing and scheduling, actively participating in meetings, and maintaining clear communication through regular emails and monthly one-on-one meetings with the account manager. You will support a small pharmacy team consisting of one part-time pharmacist and one pharmacy technician, with tech assistance primarily focused on Omnicell automation restocking. The facility operates an order entry system and offers onsite training, including support for unfamiliar systems.

Key qualifications and experience sought for this role include:

  • Illinois pharmacist licensure (required)
  • Hospital pharmacy background
  • At least 3 years of management or leadership experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Omnicell automation (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and basic financial knowledge

The position operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with 7-day-per-week on-call responsibilities (weekends are covered by a part-time pharmacist). Business casual attire is appropriate. Convenient travel access is available via the Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).
