A leadership role is open for a Director of Pharmacy at a specialized critical illness recovery hospital located within a larger medical center in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. This is a direct hire, working director position requiring a Pharmacy-in-Charge license and substantial inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.
The hospital focuses on complex patient populations recovering from brain injury, cardiac conditions, infectious diseases, neurological disorders, pulmonary issues including ventilator liberation, renal conditions, and wound care. The pharmacy team is small and collaborative, consisting of one full-time pharmacist, one full-time pharmacy technician, and two per diem pharmacists, all reporting directly to the Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and actively participate in daily inpatient pharmacy operations as a working director
- Manage pharmacy staff, providing guidance and development for direct reports
- Oversee clinical services and operational workflow to ensure regulatory compliance and quality patient care
- Collaborate with medical teams to optimize medication use and patient outcomes
- Prepare for upcoming pharmacy system changes, including a future EPIC implementation
- Ensure pharmacy performance aligns with audit standards tied to bonus potential
- Provide weekend coverage on a rotating basis, with compensatory days off
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Acute care hospital pharmacy experience is mandatory
- Prior pharmacy management or director-level experience preferred
- Strong clinical, administrative, and operational skills
- Comfortable leading a small team in a hands-on role
- Pennsylvania Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain
- Retail pharmacy-only backgrounds will not be considered
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Rotating weekend coverage requiring ~4 hours flex time when scheduled
