Director of Pharmacy in New Lenox, IL

Lead pharmacy operations as the Director of Pharmacy and pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) at a behavioral hospital specializing in psychiatric care. This contract opportunity, based in New Lenox, Illinois, requires a licensed Illinois pharmacist with hospital experience and preferably three years of management skills to maintain and support pharmacy services until a permanent candidate is hired.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including staffing, scheduling, and coordination of meetings
• Maintain pharmacy compliance and performance, ensuring efficient workflow
• Communicate progress and updates regularly via emails and one-on-one monthly meetings with the account manager
• Support a small staff of one part-time pharmacist and one technician, with a focus on restocking and operating Omnicell automation
• Provide on-call coverage seven days a week (with weekends partially covered by part-time pharmacist)
• Utilize order entry systems (training provided) and apply basic financial knowledge for budget oversight
• No sterile compounding responsibilities involved

Qualifications:

• Current Illinois pharmacist licensure required
• Hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred
• Minimum three years of pharmacy management experience is preferred
• Strong communication skills essential
• Experience with Omnicell automation preferred but not required
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, including on-call duties
