Director of Pharmacy in Newport News, VA

Responsibilities:

• Lead the daily operations of the Pharmacy Department, supervising supervisors and staff.
• Ensure all pharmacy personnel receive ongoing training, support, and performance feedback focused on results and skill growth.
• Develop department objectives aligned with regulatory standards including Joint Commission, DOH, and Board of Pharmacy guidelines.
• Collaborate on budget planning including operational expenses and capital equipment needs.
• Serve on hospital committees, contributing pharmacy expertise to policy development and program implementation.
• Maintain compliance systems for prescriber authorization and pharmaceutical supply management.
• Assume the duties of a Staff Pharmacist as needed to maintain service quality.

Qualifications or Desired Experience:

• Current state pharmacist license required.
• At least three years of hospital pharmacy experience within the last five years.
• Proven ability to manage pharmacy operations efficiently within a healthcare environment.
• Preferred: One year of management experience in a pharmacy setting.
