A leadership opportunity is available overseeing inpatient pharmacy services with responsibility as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). This role supports a diverse clinical environment covering specialties including obstetrics (excluding NICU), orthopedics, pediatrics (excluding PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care.
Location: West Plains, MO
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Contract Duration: Approximately July 9 to October 1, with two weeks of onsite training prior to coverage
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as Director of Pharmacy, providing leadership and operational excellence in inpatient pharmacy services
- Function as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Develop staffing schedules for pharmacists and technicians to optimize department efficiency
- Collaborate with purchasing to resolve medication supply chain challenges
- Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee: prepare agendas, conduct meetings, and implement initiatives
- Participate in multiple medical staff committees and COPD readmission reduction meetings monthly
- Facilitate monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles
- Manage pharmacy payroll and control access to automated medication systems (Pyxis)
- Oversee controlled substance ordering twice weekly
- Potential involvement in sterile compounding during staff shortages
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist in Missouri with Medication Therapy Services certification
- Proven inpatient pharmacy experience is essential
- Experience with Meditech Expanse, particularly managing drug dictionaries, preferred
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with committee meeting facilitation experience
- Ability to serve as a resource for pharmacy staff, answering questions and resolving concerns
