A leadership opportunity is available overseeing inpatient pharmacy services with responsibility as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). This role supports a diverse clinical environment covering specialties including obstetrics (excluding NICU), orthopedics, pediatrics (excluding PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care.

Location: West Plains, MO
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Contract Duration: Approximately July 9 to October 1, with two weeks of onsite training prior to coverage

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Director of Pharmacy, providing leadership and operational excellence in inpatient pharmacy services
  • Function as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Develop staffing schedules for pharmacists and technicians to optimize department efficiency
  • Collaborate with purchasing to resolve medication supply chain challenges
  • Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee: prepare agendas, conduct meetings, and implement initiatives
  • Participate in multiple medical staff committees and COPD readmission reduction meetings monthly
  • Facilitate monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles
  • Manage pharmacy payroll and control access to automated medication systems (Pyxis)
  • Oversee controlled substance ordering twice weekly
  • Potential involvement in sterile compounding during staff shortages

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed pharmacist in Missouri with Medication Therapy Services certification
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy experience is essential
  • Experience with Meditech Expanse, particularly managing drug dictionaries, preferred
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with committee meeting facilitation experience
  • Ability to serve as a resource for pharmacy staff, answering questions and resolving concerns

  • Business casual or scrubs attire permitted with any color or print
  • Join a committed pharmacy team consisting of approximately 4.5 pharmacist and 6 technician full-time equivalents
