A leadership opportunity is available to oversee inpatient pharmacy services at a well-established healthcare facility in West Plains, MO, covering a seven-week period from early July through October with two weeks of onsite training beforehand. This role requires a licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) with a strong background in inpatient pharmacy practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services, managing daily operations and departmental leadership
  • Develop and maintain schedules for pharmacists and technicians
  • Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain challenges
  • Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including meeting preparation and implementation of initiatives
  • Participate in multiple medical staff committee meetings and COPD readmissions reduction efforts
  • Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles to enhance communication and workflow
  • Manage controlled substances orders twice weekly and oversee payroll and Pyxis user access
  • Provide guidance and support to pharmacy staff as a primary resource
  • Assume pharmacist-in-charge responsibilities, ensuring compliance and regulatory standards
  • Potentially perform sterile compounding duties during staff shortages

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Missouri pharmacist license and certification in Medication Therapy Services
  • Proven experience in inpatient pharmacy operations
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse order entry system preferred, particularly drug dictionary management
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams

Additional Details:

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Staff: Approximately 4.5 pharmacist and 6 technician full-time equivalents
  • Specialty Areas: Includes OB (excluding NICU/high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (no PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care
  • Dress Code: Business casual or scrubs of any color or print
  • Contract position with comprehensive on-site training provided
