Director of Pharmacy | Oakland, California

A leadership opportunity is available for a full-time Director of Pharmacy to manage and guide all aspects of a Specialty Home Infusion Pharmacy. This role requires comprehensive oversight of pharmacy operations, staff management, and adherence to high-quality standards aligned with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee pharmacy operations ensuring effective and compliant functions.
• Maintain strict compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards, as well as State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Supervise compounding, dispensing, and clinical monitoring services safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all practices meet licensing and regulatory standards at local, state, and federal levels.
• Accurately prepare prescriptions, solutions, and medications.
• Conduct patient-specific assessments to address drug-related needs and revise care plans accordingly.
• Manage controlled substances securely and in compliance with regulations.
• Serve as a drug information resource and collaborate with physicians and referral sources.
• Lead team management activities including hiring, training, performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and strategic planning.
• Participate in pharmacist on-call rotation and provide coverage as needed.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Registered Pharmacist with clinical experience.
• Valid California pharmacist license in good standing; additional licenses as required.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience with preference for specialty pharmacy or home infusion expertise.
• Strong knowledge of compounding and infusion protocols.
• CPR certification or Care Tend experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
• Ability to train, educate, and lead pharmacy staff by example.
