Director of Pharmacy in Onawa, IA

A critical access hospital in Onawa, IA, is seeking an experienced pharmacy leader for a Director of Pharmacy role. This contract-to-hire position offers the opportunity to oversee inpatient pharmacy operations within a 25-bed facility dedicated to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily inpatient pharmacy functions, including medication dispensing, order verification, inventory control, and regulatory compliance
• Supervise, train, and schedule pharmacy staff to ensure safe, effective medication distribution across the hospital
• Develop, update, and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures
• Lead medication safety initiatives and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and hospital leadership to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications and Experience:

• Licensed pharmacist in Iowa, or ability to obtain licensure (required)
• Minimum of 3 years inpatient hospital pharmacy experience (required)
• Experience with Omnicell or Epic systems (preferred)
• Background in antibiotic stewardship programs (preferred)
• Knowledge of USP 797 and 800 standards (preferred)

Location: Onawa, Iowa

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
