An interim leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy with strong inpatient expertise and leadership capabilities. This role requires a licensed Michigan pharmacist to oversee pharmacy operations and provide guidance to a dedicated team at a hospital setting.
Location:
Marshall, MI (Flexible start as early as the week of July 27th)
Contract Details:
- Position available to cover until August 4, 2026
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
- Weekend and on-call coverage may be required if other staff members are unavailable
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current Michigan pharmacist license required
- Proven leadership experience in inpatient pharmacy settings
- General knowledge of sterile compounding procedures, including USP 797 and 800 standards
- Familiarity with Cerner order entry system preferred (training available)
- Experience or willingness to learn Pyxis automation system
- Ability to supervise and lead a team consisting of 6 pharmacists and 8 technicians
- Strong communication skills and ability to enforce accountability within the team
Responsibilities:
- Provide operational leadership and stabilize pharmacy services
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce recruitment efforts
- Oversee sterile and hazardous compounding activities
- Facilitate financial oversight and participate in department meetings
- Supervise pharmacy staff and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Represent the pharmacy department professionally both internally and externally
- Support a retail pharmacy operation with separate dedicated staff
