Director of Pharmacy - Paterson, NJ

Lead pharmacy operations at a behavioral health facility specializing in comprehensive patient care, serving as both Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for a 6-8 week contract assignment. This role demands strong leadership, hands-on pharmacy oversight, and active collaboration with clinical staff to ensure safe, effective medication management within a supportive and structured environment.

Location: Summit, NJ

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• On-call coverage after each weekday shift
• Weekend on-call coverage only

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as PIC with a commitment of at least 35 hours per week
• Verify medication orders, manage pharmacy meetings and scheduling
• Support ongoing quality initiatives, including data collection for Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee
• Oversee pharmacy operations and provide leadership to pharmacy technicians and per diem staff
• Collaborate with clinical teams to maintain compliance following recent Joint Commission and state inspections
• Utilize HCS order entry system daily; experience with Omnicell automation preferred
• Provide guidance and relief for current pharmacy staff members

Desired Qualifications:

• Active New Jersey pharmacist licensure required
• Proven experience with HCS order entry and policy development
• Background in managing pharmacy operations within a behavioral health setting preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
