Lead the pharmacy operations at a new behavioral health facility as the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) in Peoria, IL. This contract role offers the unique opportunity to shape the pharmacy services from the ground up during the facility’s opening phase. You will oversee all pharmacy functions, ensuring safe and effective medication management in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing pharmacy startup activities such as stocking Omnicell automation systems and implementing medication order entry workflows
- Approving medication orders within the HCS system, with training provided
- Leading the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee meetings
- Serving as the sole pharmacy leader with no technician support, requiring a hands-on, self-sufficient approach
- Providing on-call coverage weekday evenings and possible weekend coverage as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Illinois pharmacist licensure is required
- Experience working in inpatient hospital pharmacy, particularly behavioral health
- Familiarity with HCS order entry and Omnicell automation systems preferred
- Ability to work independently in a startup environment
- Strong organizational and leadership skills to establish and maintain efficient pharmacy operations
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- On-call duties following each shift; possible weekend on-call coverage
This contract opportunity starts as soon as May 25th and extends through July, with some flexibility on end dates. Local candidates are preferred, but travel expenses can be considered.
