Director of Pharmacy - Pekin, Illinois

An exciting leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy to serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge at a behavioral health facility in Peoria, IL. This contract role supports the opening and operation of a new inpatient behavioral hospital pharmacy. Ideal candidates will have inpatient hospital experience and hold an active Illinois pharmacist license.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the working Director of Pharmacy, overseeing all pharmacy operations at the new site
• Manage pharmacy start-up tasks including stocking Omnicell automated systems and setting up workflows
• Approve medication orders and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
• Participate in Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee meetings to guide formulary management
• Provide on-call coverage during evenings after shifts, with potential weekend on-call support
• Utilize the HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation, with training provided

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current Illinois pharmacist licensure is required
• Prior inpatient hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• Ability to work independently, as this role does not have technician support
• Willingness to manage both clinical and operational pharmacy duties in a start-up setting

Schedule:

• Coverage Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• On-call responsibility after shifts and potentially on weekends

This position offers the unique opportunity to lead pharmacy services at a newly established behavioral health hospital, making a meaningful impact on patient care from the ground up. The anticipated contract start date is May 25th, extending through July with some flexibility possible.
