An interim leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy to oversee operations at a 71-bed acute care facility in Piqua, OH. This contract role begins September 14th and extends approximately 13 weeks until a permanent hire is made. The position requires Ohio Pharmacist licensure and offers a focused weekday schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, with no weekend or on-call duties.
Key responsibilities encompass managing the pharmacy and staffing schedules, overseeing Coumadin clinic nurse coverage, and ensuring compliance with USP competency training. The role includes leading multiple committees such as safety, QAPI, budget, strategic sourcing, P&T, stroke, and sepsis, emphasizing a collaborative approach to patient care and operational excellence. Additional duties involve diversion monitoring, drug shortage management, and supervising IT initiatives including EPIC upgrades and drug library management. While sterile compounding is not a primary function, the Director will oversee related training and competencies.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Ohio Pharmacist licensure is required
- Experience in acute care pharmacy management
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary committees
- Familiarity with EPIC systems and pharmacy drug library management
- Knowledge of USP 797/800 standards and compliance protocols
- Skilled in 340B program reporting and regulatory requirements
Schedule/Hours:
- Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm
- No weekends or on-call coverage
The position supports an active pharmacy team consisting of 4.4 FTE pharmacists, 5.7 FTE technicians/buyers, and supports a Coumadin clinic staffed with nursing personnel.
This opportunity also involves supporting key projects including Baxter pump drug library build, Pyxis server upgrade, and a transition from QS1 to BestRx outpatient script processing.
