Leading a specialized inpatient pharmacy within a critical illness recovery hospital requires a seasoned professional who excels in clinical leadership and operational oversight. This opportunity invites a highly skilled pharmacy leader to serve as a working Director of Pharmacy, holding the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) license, to guide a close-knit team in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily pharmacy operations within a 35-bed critical illness recovery hospital situated inside a larger acute care facility.
  • Oversee a team comprising one full-time pharmacist, one full-time pharmacy technician, and two per diem pharmacists.
  • Serve as a hands-on leader actively involved in dispensing, clinical services, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and implement best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with clinical teams to optimize medication therapies for patients recovering from complex conditions such as brain injury, cardiac disease, ventilator liberation, and wound care.
  • Prepare for future technology upgrades, including EPIC system implementation.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain one.
  • Acute care hospital pharmacy experience is mandatory.
  • Prior pharmacy management or director-level experience is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in clinical, administrative, and operational pharmacy functions.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a small pharmacy team with direct reports.
  • Retail pharmacy-only backgrounds will not be considered.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Weekend coverage on a rotating basis, around 4 hours with flexible compensatory time off provided.

Location:

  • Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, within an advanced critical illness recovery hospital that treats patients with complex medical needs.
