Position Details

• Position: Director of Pharmacy
• Location: Pleasanton, CA
• Type: Direct Hire
• Start: ASAP
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime hours
• On-Call: Administrative on-call responsibilities
• Compensation: $175,000–$185,000
• Setting: Specialty Home Infusion Pharmacy

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall pharmacy and operational functions
• Lead pharmacy staff and ensure high-quality patient care
• Ensure compliance with USP 797, USP 800, and California Board of Pharmacy regulations
• Oversee compounding, dispensing, and clinical monitoring services
• Ensure pharmacy practices meet all applicable licensing and regulatory requirements
• Prepare and oversee accurate medication, prescription, and solution preparation
• Assess patient, medication, and disease information to identify potential drug-related problems
• Develop and revise patient plans of care
• Oversee pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and interns
• Manage controlled substance preparation, distribution, security, and maintenance
• Collaborate with physicians and referral sources
• Serve as a drug information resource and support clinical education
• Participate in pharmacist on-call coverage as needed
• Hire, train, develop, and manage pharmacy staff
• Conduct performance reviews, team meetings, and address performance issues
• Support team goals, strategic planning, and conflict resolution

Requirements

• Active California Pharmacist License in good standing
• PharmD or R.Ph. with appropriate clinical experience
• 3–5+ years of pharmacist experience
• Specialty pharmacy or home infusion experience highly preferred
• Strong direct compounding experience preferred
• Strong understanding of USP 797 and USP 800
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Ability to train, educate, and lead by example
• CPR+/CareTend experience desired
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Additional state licensure may be required
