Oversee the inpatient pharmacy operations as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services in West Plains, MO. This contract position requires a Missouri pharmacist license and Medication Therapy Services certification, with coverage starting approximately July 9 through October 1. A two-week onsite training period will be provided before assuming full responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Lead daily weekday department huddles and monthly staff meetings.
  • Develop and manage schedules for pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.
  • Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain issues.
  • Organize and facilitate Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings, including agenda creation and implementation of approved initiatives.
  • Participate in monthly medical staff committee meetings and COPD readmissions reduction meetings.
  • Manage controlled substance orders twice weekly and oversee payroll and Pyxis access.
  • Provide clinical guidance to pharmacy staff when needed, without requiring on-call duties.
  • Oversee sterile compounding activities when necessary due to staff call-ins.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Missouri pharmacist license.
  • Medication Therapy Services certification.
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy experience.
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse system preferred, especially drug dictionary management.
  • Ability to manage a multidisciplinary clinical pharmacy team.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to coordinate multiple pharmacy functions.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • No office on-call; however, available as a resource during working hours.

Site Information:

  • Supports diverse specialty areas including OB (without NICU or high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (excluding PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care.
  • Pharmacy team comprises 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs.
  • The organization is preparing for Joint Commission survey in fall 2026.
