A leadership opportunity is available to manage inpatient pharmacy services as the Director of Pharmacy at a healthcare facility located in West Plains, MO. This contract position requires coverage from approximately July 9 to October 1, with two weeks of onsite training before coverage begins.
Location: West Plains, MO
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- No on-call duties, but must be available as a resource for pharmacy staff
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed Pharmacist in Missouri with Medication Therapy Services certification
- Proven inpatient pharmacy experience
- Ability to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
- Preferred experience with Meditech Expanse order entry system
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services and take on PIC duties
- Oversee and create schedules for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
- Collaborate with the Buyer to manage medication supply chain challenges
- Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including meeting preparation and initiative implementation
- Attend multiple medical staff committee meetings monthly and contribute to COPD readmission reduction efforts
- Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles
- Manage ordering of controlled substances biweekly and maintain Pyxis user and payroll oversight
- Potentially assist with sterile compounding as needed, especially in staff call-in situations
Work Environment:
- The department comprises 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs
- Specialties include OB (no NICU/high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (no PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care
- The facility is preparing for a Joint Commission survey in fall 2026
- Dress code is business casual or scrubs in any color or print
