Oversee pharmacy operations as the Interim Director of Pharmacy in a 71-bed acute care facility with an average daily census of 25-30 patients. This contract role will begin mid-September and continue for approximately 13 weeks until a permanent director is hired. The position operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with no weekend or on-call coverage required, providing a stable weekday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage pharmacy scheduling, staffing, and training programs, including Coumadin clinic nursing coverage.
  • Lead Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee and participate in safety, QAPI, budget, strategic sourcing, stroke, and sepsis committees.
  • Oversee USP competency training and sterile compounding training and competency assessments.
  • Administer diversion monitoring and data consolidation efforts.
  • Manage drug shortage responses and updates.
  • Coordinate IT updates including EPIC system training and drug library management.
  • Supervise upcoming mandatory programs such as 340B reporting, Baxter pump drug library build, Pyxis server upgrade, USP 797/800 competency testing, and outpatient script system transition from QS1 to BestRx.

Qualifications:

  • Active Ohio Pharmacist license required.
  • Experience with acute care pharmacy practices.
  • Familiarity with EPIC healthcare software.
  • Strong leadership skills in pharmacy operations and committee management.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including ACHC accreditation standards.

This role leads a dedicated pharmacy team of 4.4 pharmacist FTEs, 5.7 techs/buyers, and 1.25 nursing FTEs in the Coumadin Clinic. The position offers meaningful engagement in a specialized acute care setting with exposure to diverse clinical and operational challenges.
