Director of Pharmacy in Sloan, IA

A Critical Access Hospital in need of experienced pharmacy leadership seeks a Director of Pharmacy to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist ready to guide inpatient pharmacy operations in a community hospital setting.

Location: Onawa, IA
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Duration: Contract-to-hire

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily inpatient pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, order verification, inventory management, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Supervise, train, and schedule pharmacy staff to ensure safe and efficient medication distribution throughout the facility.
• Develop and maintain pharmacy policies and procedures; lead medication safety initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and hospital leadership to enhance patient care quality.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current Iowa pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain one (required).
• Minimum of 3 years of hospital inpatient pharmacy experience (required).
• Experience with Omnicell or Epic systems (preferred).
• Background in antibiotic stewardship (preferred).
• Familiarity with USP 797/800 guidelines (preferred).
