This role offers an opportunity to lead inpatient pharmacy services at a healthcare facility located in West Plains, MO. The position requires providing oversight as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and managing a team of pharmacists and technicians in a dynamic, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct day-to-day operations of the inpatient pharmacy department.
- Develop and maintain staff schedules for pharmacists and technicians.
- Collaborate with the Buyer on medication supply chain management.
- Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee—prepare agendas, conduct meetings, and implement approved initiatives.
- Participate in monthly medical staff committee meetings and COPD readmissions reduction initiatives.
- Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday department huddles.
- Manage ordering and accountability of controlled substances.
- Oversee payroll and access management for Pyxis users.
- Provide resource support to pharmacy staff to address questions and concerns.
- Potential involvement in sterile compounding as needed.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist in the state of Missouri.
- Certification in Medication Therapy Services.
- Proven inpatient pharmacy experience.
- Familiarity with Meditech Expanse order entry system preferred, including drug dictionary management.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical setting.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- No after-hours on-call responsibilities required.
Additional Information:
- The site specializes in OB (without NICU), orthopedics, pediatrics (no PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care services.
- Staff includes 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs.
- The facility will undergo a Joint Commission survey in fall 2026.
- Onsite training provided two weeks prior to coverage starting.
- Dress code accommodates business casual or scrubs of any color or print.
- Contract period: July 7, 2026 to November 7, 2026.
