Step into a leadership role overseeing inpatient pharmacy services with a focus on excellence and collaboration. This position requires a Missouri-licensed pharmacist certified in Medication Therapy Services to serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a dynamic inpatient pharmacy team.

Location: West Plains, MO
Type: Contract (approximately July 9 through October 1, includes 2 weeks of onsite training prior to coverage)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Dress Code: Business casual or scrubs (any color or print)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Director of Pharmacy, providing strategic and operational leadership for inpatient pharmacy services
  • Create and manage schedules for 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs
  • Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including agenda creation, meeting facilitation, and implementation of approved initiatives
  • Collaborate with buyers to resolve medication supply chain challenges
  • Participate in three monthly medical staff committees and COPD readmissions reduction meetings
  • Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday pharmacy huddles
  • Order controlled substances twice a week and manage Pyxis access and payroll functions
  • Act as a resource to pharmacy staff during regular hours (no on-call required)
  • Oversee potential sterile compounding in case of staff call-ins

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Missouri pharmacist license and Medication Therapy Services certification required
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy experience, preferably with Meditech Expanse order entry system (drug dictionary management experience a plus)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to guide a multidisciplinary team across diverse specialty areas, including OB (excluding NICU/high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (no PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care
  • Ability to maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards in preparation for upcoming site survey window
