Director of Pharmacy in West Plains, MO

Seeking an experienced pharmacy professional to serve as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services in West Plains, MO. This contract role provides critical leadership support during a maternity leave period, with onsite training provided for two weeks prior to coverage beginning. The ideal candidate will possess strong inpatient pharmacy expertise and hold Missouri pharmacist licensure plus Medication Therapy Services certification.

Location: West Plains, MO
Schedule:

• Monday through Friday
• 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• No on-call responsibilities, but availability as a resource for staff is essential

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) overseeing all inpatient pharmacy operations
• Develop schedules for 4.5 pharmacist and 6 technician FTEs
• Collaborate with the Buyer to manage medication supply chain challenges
• Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including agenda creation, meeting facilitation, and implementation of initiatives
• Attend monthly medical staff and COPD readmissions committees
• Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles
• Manage controlled substances ordering twice weekly and oversee payroll and Pyxis user access
• Provide backup sterile compounding support as needed
• Ensure compliance within a Joint Commission survey window scheduled for fall 2026

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Missouri Pharmacist License
• Medication Therapy Services certification
• Proven inpatient pharmacy leadership experience
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse (especially drug dictionary management) preferred
• Comfortable engaging with diverse specialty areas including OB (excluding NICU/high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (excluding PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care
