Director of Pharmacy - Williamsburg, Virginia

An opportunity exists for a dedicated healthcare professional to oversee pharmaceutical services in a full-time capacity as Director of Pharmacy at a hospital located in Yorktown, VA. This leadership role is responsible for managing the pharmacy department’s operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical and clinical pharmacy services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and supervising pharmacy department supervisors and staff to optimize daily operations.
• Developing and implementing departmental objectives aligned with regulatory standards such as Joint Commission, Department of Health, and Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Providing ongoing training, performance feedback, and professional development support to promote employee engagement, skill growth, and succession planning.
• Evaluating and improving pharmacy policies, procedures, and processes to enhance service quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Participating in hospital committees and effectively communicating pharmacy-related policies and protocols across departments.
• Overseeing the management of authorized prescriber signatures and pharmaceutical supply requisitioning and dispensing systems.
• Preparing budget recommendations for capital equipment and operational expenses while projecting departmental revenues.
• Performing duties consistent with those of a Staff Pharmacist.

Qualifications:

• Current state licensure as a pharmacist is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of hospital experience within the past five years.
• Proven ability to efficiently operate a pharmacy within a healthcare organization.
• Preferred: At least one (1) year of managerial experience in a pharmacy setting.
