This contract opportunity is for a Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services to provide leadership as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a well-established healthcare facility in Missouri. The role offers the chance to oversee a diverse inpatient pharmacy team during a critical period, contributing to high-quality patient care across multiple specialty areas.

Location: West Plains, Missouri

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • No on-call required, but availability as a resource for pharmacy staff is expected

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage inpatient pharmacy operations, including staff scheduling for pharmacists and technicians
  • Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain challenges
  • Oversee the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee: prepare agendas, conduct meetings, and implement initiatives
  • Participate in medical staff committees and quality improvement projects such as COPD readmissions reduction
  • Conduct monthly departmental meetings and daily weekday huddles
  • Order controlled substances twice weekly and manage payroll and Pyxis access controls
  • Support sterile compounding activities as needed, especially during staff absences

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current Missouri pharmacist license required
  • Medication Therapy Services certification mandatory
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy experience essential
  • Experience with Meditech Expanse preferred, especially in managing the drug dictionary
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Additional Information:

  • This position includes a two-week onsite training period prior to maternity leave
  • Dress code is business casual or scrubs, with flexibility in color and print
  • The department includes 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs
  • The facility is preparing for Joint Commission survey in fall 2026
