Provide executive leadership and operational oversight as the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services for a healthcare facility in West Plains, MO. This contract role requires a licensed Missouri pharmacist with Medication Therapy Services certification to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), guiding a multidisciplinary pharmacy team through daily operations and strategic initiatives. Coverage is needed from approximately July 9 through October 1, with two weeks of onsite training prior to coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the inpatient pharmacy department, overseeing 4.5 pharmacist and 6 technician FTEs.
- Develop and manage pharmacist and technician schedules.
- Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain issues.
- Chair the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee: prepare agendas, lead meetings, and implement approved initiatives.
- Attend and contribute to monthly medical staff committees and COPD readmissions reduction meetings.
- Facilitate monthly department meetings and daily weekday department huddles.
- Manage ordering of controlled substances twice weekly and maintain Pyxis access and payroll oversight.
- Serve as a resource to pharmacy staff—answer questions and address concerns without requiring on-call duties.
- Assume Pharmacist in Charge responsibilities and potential small sterile compounding tasks as needed, particularly during staff call-ins.
Desired Experience:
- Proven inpatient pharmacy experience, ideally with familiarity using Meditech Expanse, particularly managing the drug dictionary.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in pharmacy operations and staff management.
- Strong understanding of specialty service areas, including obstetrics (excluding NICU/high-risk pregnancies), orthopedics, pediatrics (excluding PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care.
- Experience with regulatory standards relevant to Joint Commission surveys (facility preparing for fall 2026 survey preferred).

- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
