Oversee pharmacy operations as the Director of Pharmacy at a behavioral health facility requiring experienced inpatient pharmacy management. This contract role, based in Winston-Salem, NC, offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team during a critical transition period, starting February 25th and continuing through May 29th or until a permanent director is appointed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff and manage all pharmacy operations including dispensing, verifying orders, and checking technician work within the HCS Order Entry System.
  • Assist with stocking and managing automation through recently installed Omnicell systems.
  • Lead Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee activities, antimicrobial stewardship programs, and develop or update pharmacy policies as needed.
  • Maintain timely medication delivery to patients while managing staffing coverage efficiently and controlling drug and personnel costs within budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy technicians for dispensing, ordering, and repackaging tasks; note technicians do not perform order entry.
  • Provide leadership during the Joint Commission accreditation window, ensuring compliance and quality standards.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed pharmacist in North Carolina.
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy management experience.
  • Behavioral health and Joint Commission accreditation knowledge preferred.
  • Familiarity with HCS order entry and Omnicell automation is a plus; training is available.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm with on-call duties and occasional weekend coverage if necessary.

Additional Information:

  • The position requires 4-5 days of training alongside the outgoing Director of Pharmacy prior to assuming full responsibilities.
  • The team includes 2 part-time pharmacists (0.5 FTE), 1 full-time and 3 part-time pharmacy technicians.
  • Consideration for travel expenses available if local candidates are not available.
