Oversee pharmacy operations at a behavioral health facility as the Director of Pharmacy, ensuring effective medication management and regulatory compliance in a dynamic inpatient setting. This contract role in Winston-Salem, NC, offers the opportunity to lead a small but dedicated pharmacy team through a transitional period, with a start training date of February 25th and coverage through May 29th or until a permanent candidate is placed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily pharmacy activities including dispensing medications, verifying orders via the HCS order entry system, and supervising pharmacy tech work
  • Assist with stocking and maintaining the newly installed Omnicell automation system
  • Lead Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee initiatives and antimicrobial stewardship programs
  • Develop and update pharmacy policies in alignment with behavioral health and Joint Commission standards
  • Ensure timely medication delivery to patients and maintain staffing coverage within budget constraints
  • Provide on-call coverage during weekdays and support weekend shifts as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • Licensed pharmacist in North Carolina with inpatient pharmacy management experience
  • Familiarity with behavioral health pharmacy practice and Joint Commission accreditation standards preferred
  • Experience with HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation is a plus but training will be provided if needed
  • Strong leadership skills to manage a team consisting of part-time pharmacists and technicians
  • Ability to maintain cost control over drug expenditures and staffing resources

Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with on-call duties (usually light)
  • Weekend coverage from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. if part-time pharmacist hours do not provide coverage

This role requires 4-5 days of on-site training with the outgoing Director of Pharmacy before assuming full responsibility. Candidates local to the area are preferred, though travel considerations will be discussed for remote hires.
