Lead pharmacy operations as the Director of Pharmacy at a behavioral health facility specializing in inpatient care. This contract role offers the opportunity to manage staffing, oversee medication distribution, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards within a supportive and evolving environment.
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Type: Contract (begin training February 25th with outgoing Director of Pharmacy; coverage through May 29th or until permanent hire)
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, plus on-call (typically light)
- Weekend coverage 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM as needed if not covered by part-time pharmacist
Responsibilities:
- Oversee pharmacy staff including 2 part-time pharmacists and multiple technicians
- Dispense medications and verify tech work using the HCS (Health Care Systems) order entry system; training provided if needed
- Assist with stocking and managing Omnicell automation system
- Participate in Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committees, antimicrobial stewardship, and policy development/updating
- Ensure timely medication delivery to patients and maintain appropriate staffing coverage
- Manage pharmacy budget with focus on controlling drug and staffing costs
- Provide leadership during the Joint Commission accreditation period
- Supervise order verification and pharmacy operations in a behavioral health setting
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid North Carolina pharmacist license required
- Experience in inpatient pharmacy management
- Behavioral health and Joint Commission experience preferred
- Familiarity with HCS and Omnicell systems a plus but not required
- Strong leadership skills with ability to manage turnover challenges and optimize team performance
