Lead pharmacy operations as the Director of Pharmacy, overseeing inpatient services with a focus on behavioral health in a specialized healthcare setting. This contract role offers an opportunity to manage a pharmacy team during a critical transition period, starting with training alongside the outgoing director on February 25th and covering until late May or until a permanent candidate is placed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage pharmacy staffing including two part-time pharmacists and multiple pharmacy technicians.
- Oversee medication dispensing, verify technician work, and conduct order entry using the HCS system; training is available for HCS.
- Assist with stocking and maintaining Omnicell automation systems.
- Lead Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee efforts and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
- Develop and update policies to maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards, particularly during accreditation review.
- Ensure timely medication delivery to patients and maintain cost control within the departmental budget.
- Provide on-call coverage with generally light call responsibilities and support weekend pharmacy operations as needed.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist in North Carolina with demonstrated inpatient pharmacy management experience.
- Background in behavioral health pharmacy preferred.
- Exposure to Joint Commission requirements is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation a plus, though comprehensive training will be provided.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, including on-call duties.
- Weekend shifts from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm when not covered by part-time pharmacists.
Additional Information:
- The site recently implemented Omnicell automation (January 2024) and is undergoing Joint Commission accreditation.
- This contract requires 4-5 days of training with the current Director of Pharmacy before assuming full responsibilities.
