Pharmacist in Alexandria, LA

A dynamic opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist to support a community hospital with over 200 beds. This 13-week contract role starts immediately and offers a diverse work schedule that includes four 10-hour shifts per week with rotating hours, potentially ranging between early morning and late evening shifts. Every other weekend shift is required.

Location: Alexandria, LA

Schedule:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Rotating schedule: potential shifts include 6 AM–4:30 PM, 7 AM–5:30 PM, or 12:30 PM–11 PM
• Every other weekend rotation

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently
• Supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure optimal workflow
• Collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff providing pharmacological guidance
• Apply pharmacokinetic principles to optimize patient medication regimens
• Utilize EPIC and Pyxis systems for daily pharmacy operations

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Current pharmacist license in good standing
• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems, specifically EPIC
• Experience with automated medication dispensing systems such as Pyxis
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via American Heart Association
