A 13-week contract opportunity is available for a pharmacist at a 200+ bed community hospital in Alexandria, LA. This role offers a dynamic schedule with four 10-hour shifts per week, including varied start times such as 6 AM to 4:30 PM, 7 AM to 5:30 PM, or 12:30 PM to 11 PM, as well as every other weekend rotation. The position requires immediate availability.
Responsibilities include order verification, supervising pharmacy technicians, collaborating with physicians and nurses, and applying pharmacokinetics principles to optimize patient care. Proficiency with EPIC and Pyxis systems is essential.
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Valid pharmacist license
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- Experience with order verification and medication dispensing
- Ability to supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records and Pyxis automation
- Knowledge of pharmacokinetics and clinical pharmacy practices
