Located in Alturas, CA, this 13-week contract position offers a challenging role for a Pharmacist with recent inpatient hospital experience. Reporting to the Pharmaceutical Services Director, you will oversee inpatient pharmaceutical services, ensuring compliance with all State and Federal regulations, while managing drug procurement, distribution, storage, and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of inpatient pharmaceutical services to ensure safe, effective medication use.
  • Review and oversee drug distribution systems to maintain efficiency within the pharmacy license.
  • Provide drug information and support to healthcare professionals via various communication channels.
  • Maintain and update the Pharmacy Services Policy and Procedure Manual according to legal and accreditation changes.
  • Assist with pharmacy licensure and serve as the Pharmacist in Charge of the hospital pharmacy.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in handling patient medication records and orders.
  • Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals, specialty emergency kits, and controlled substances with adherence to quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Complete administrative tasks timely related to record keeping, compliance, and licensing.
  • Provide weekend retail pharmacy coverage for emergency medication dispensing.
  • Serve as on-call pharmacist after hours on scheduled days.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience within the last 3 years (required).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and produce deliverables with minimal direction.
  • Knowledge of California pharmacy laws and hospital pharmaceutical operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
