Pharmacist in Arlington, TN

A clinical infusion pharmacist opportunity is available in the Bartlett/Memphis, TN area. This role involves preparing, dispensing, and monitoring complex intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous medications, serving as a central figure in a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The position offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with participation in an on-call rotation averaging fewer than five after-hours calls per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sterile Compounding: Prepare specialty pharmaceuticals and IV solutions in a sterile, ventilated environment according to state and federal regulations.
• Clinical Monitoring: Evaluate lab results, calculate pharmacokinetic dosing such as for vancomycin, and monitor Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) therapies. Provide extensive patient counseling on specialty medications and therapeutic plans. Identify potential therapy issues and recommend clinical interventions.
• Patient Education: Train patients and caregivers on infusion pump operation, sterile techniques, and catheter maintenance for home care.
• Care Coordination: Work collaboratively with prescribing physicians, home health nurses, and internal teams including intake, referral, reimbursement, nursing, and pharmacy operations to ensure effective therapy management and reduce hospital readmissions.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to standards set by the State Board of Pharmacy, HIPAA, FDA, DEA, Medicare, ACHC, URAC, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.
• Inventory and Shipping: Oversee pharmacy inventory, including refrigerated items, and ensure safe, timely packaging and delivery of medications and supplies to patients’ homes.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ infusion specialty pharmacy experience.
• Experience with IVIg and hemophilia treatments is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of specialty therapy payer requirements, reimbursement processes, and contract obligations.
• Current and valid Tennessee pharmacist license in good standing.
• Familiarity with CareTend pharmacy system.
