This opportunity is for a licensed pharmacist with inpatient experience to support a hospital pharmacy located in Zachary, LA. The facility is a 131-bed hospital with an average daily census of 60-70 patients, aiming to reach 80. The position requires a Louisiana pharmacist license and offers a contract role starting immediately, with a minimum 90-day commitment and the potential for extension or transition to permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pharmaceutical care for inpatients, ensuring accuracy and safety in medication dispensing
  • Complete sterile compounding and intravenous preparations
  • Collaborate with pharmacy technicians who manage Pyxis systems and assist with inventory
  • Utilize EPIC EMR for order entry; training can be provided if needed
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule averaging 5-7 days per month
  • Work flexible shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., including weekends; typical shifts are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Current and active Louisiana pharmacist license
  • Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required
  • Familiarity with sterile compounding practices strongly preferred
  • Experience with EPIC EMR order entry system preferred, but training is available
  • Ability to work varied shifts and participate in on-call rotation

Schedule:

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Shift options: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Weekend coverage required following the same hours
  • Rotating on-call duties

The pharmacy team includes six pharmacist full-time equivalents and three pharmacy technician full-time equivalents, supporting a collaborative work environment without site automation, although Pyxis devices are utilized for medication distribution.
