A PRN Staff Pharmacist opportunity is available to provide clinical pharmacy support within a specialized Home Infusion setting focused on IV and infusion services for patients with acute and chronic medical needs. This contract position is located in Cambridge, MA, with an emphasis on maintaining high standards in sterile compounding and patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process physician orders, verifying insurance benefits and coverage
- Perform sterile compounding in accordance with USP 797 standards and support cleanroom operations
- Ensure the safe dispensing of medications and infusion-related supplies
- Maintain accurate and compliant patient and pharmacy records as required by federal and state regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff
- Manage assigned patient caseloads and provide coverage for fellow pharmacists as needed
Schedule:
- Initial training on the EMR system over 4-8 days (specific dates throughout June)
- PRN shifts typically 2 days per month with flexible scheduling, and additional coverage on specified dates from June through December
- Shifts run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on-site
Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum 1+ year of pharmacy experience; 2+ years clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience with infusion therapy and sterile compounding required
- Knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards required
- Strong skills in communication, multitasking, time management, and critical thinking
