Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, fill, label, and dispense medications, including parenteral and IV solutions, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards.
  • Monitor patient drug therapies for safety and effectiveness, providing expert drug information and education to healthcare providers.
  • Oversee pharmacy departmental operations, including inventory management, record keeping, and supervision of pharmacy technicians.
  • Participate in formulary management and automated dispensing machine updates.
  • Respond to emergency codes and participate in Rapid Response Teams.
  • Maintain professional development through continuing education and compliance with ethical standards.
  • Assume leadership duties in the absence of the Pharmacy Director, ensuring uninterrupted departmental function.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy; BS in Pharmacy required, PharmD preferred.
  • Current, active pharmacist license in New Mexico.
  • 1-2 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient knowledge in pharmacology, therapeutics, and age-specific medication protocols.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technology.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements, lift up to 40 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of operating pharmacy equipment safely and efficiently.
