Located in Bluewater, NM, this direct hire pharmacist opportunity offers a pivotal role in managing medication therapies and leading pharmacy operations within a hospital setting. The position demands a professional dedicated to patient safety, clinical excellence, and operational oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, fill, label, and dispense medications, including parenteral and IV solutions, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards.
- Monitor patient drug therapies for safety and effectiveness, providing expert drug information and education to healthcare providers.
- Oversee pharmacy departmental operations, including inventory management, record keeping, and supervision of pharmacy technicians.
- Participate in formulary management and automated dispensing machine updates.
- Respond to emergency codes and participate in Rapid Response Teams.
- Maintain professional development through continuing education and compliance with ethical standards.
- Assume leadership duties in the absence of the Pharmacy Director, ensuring uninterrupted departmental function.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy; BS in Pharmacy required, PharmD preferred.
- Current, active pharmacist license in New Mexico.
- 1-2 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
- Proficient knowledge in pharmacology, therapeutics, and age-specific medication protocols.
- Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technology.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements, lift up to 40 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Capable of operating pharmacy equipment safely and efficiently.
