A research-focused hospital is seeking a pharmacist with expertise in investigational drug preparations, IV compounding, and cleanroom procedures for a full-time maternity leave assignment in New York, NY. This six-week contract offers the opportunity to engage closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and contribute to advancing clinical research through precise pharmaceutical care.

Schedule:
- Full Time: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
- Part Time: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare medications for research protocols and standard patient care by accurately reviewing physician orders and detecting potential incompatibilities.
- Compound, dispense, package, and label pharmaceutical products, maintaining compliance with strict aseptic and sterile procedures in the cleanroom environment.
- Monitor drug therapies, advising clinical interventions when necessary, and maintain control over medication inventories, including investigational and controlled substances.
- Oversee pharmacy technicians' workflow, verifying order entries, charges, and preparation to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Provide accurate pharmacological information to healthcare professionals and researchers, supporting clinical research initiatives.
- Maintain meticulous pharmacy records, including regulatory compliance with NYSBP, DEA, FDA, NIH, and other governing bodies.
- Participate actively in clinical research meetings and support hospital-wide pharmacology education efforts.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid New York State Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience, preferably with significant involvement in investigational drug products and sterile compounding.
- Proven experience preparing IV medications and working within cleanroom settings.
- Proficiency with hospital electronic health record systems—such as Cerner or Epic—and controlled drug inventory management.
- Familiarity with automated drug dispensing systems and compliance with controlled substance protocols.
- Ability to interpret and apply clinical trial protocols independently.
- Certification in sterile and non-sterile product preparation (BCSCP) is preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain pharmacy operations without supervision.
- Previous research experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
