An established research hospital is seeking a pharmacist with specialized experience in research protocols, IV preparation, and cleanroom procedures for a full-time maternity leave contract. This role offers a critical opportunity to support both investigational and standard-of-care medication management in a dynamic, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a wide range of medications, including research and standard treatments, by accurately interpreting physician orders and identifying therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Compound, dispense, package, and label pharmaceutical products while ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques and cleanroom standards.
- Monitor drug therapies and provide clinical interventions as needed.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians by organizing workflow, verifying preparation and labeling, and ensuring accuracy in order entry and inspections.
- Provide pharmacological information to healthcare professionals and researchers, including counseling on drug therapies.
- Participate in clinical research meetings to enhance hospital staff’s pharmacological and research competency.
- Maintain strict adherence to federal and state regulations (NYS Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, NIH, NYDOH) and hospital policies regarding drug handling, record-keeping, and safety protocols.
- Ensure the sterile product preparation area meets all regulatory and safety standards.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience with significant roles involving investigational drug products and sterile product preparation.
- NYS Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Proven experience preparing IV medications and working in a cleanroom environment.
- Proficiency with hospital electronic health record systems (Cerner, EPIC preferred).
- Familiarity with automated drug dispensing machines and controlled drug handling in hospitals.
- Ability to interpret clinical trial protocols and dispense drugs according to strict protocol instructions independently.
- Certification in sterile and non-sterile product preparation (BCSCP) preferred or ability to obtain certification.
- Strong documentation skills and capability to maintain pharmacy records accurately.
- Ability to collaborate within an academic research team environment.
