A research hospital in New York is seeking a skilled pharmacist for a full-time maternity leave assignment. This six-week contract role offers the opportunity to work in an academic environment, focusing on the preparation and dispensing of investigational and standard-of-care medications with a strong emphasis on IV and cleanroom processes.

Schedule:
- Full Time: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Part Time: 8:30am – 1:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Safely prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, ensuring therapeutic compatibility
- Compound, dispense, package, and label pharmaceutical products including investigational drug products
- Monitor drug therapies and advise interventions as necessary
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and oversee order entry, charges, and inspections
- Provide pharmacological information to healthcare professionals and researchers
- Participate in clinical research meetings to enhance staff knowledge
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations (NYSBP, TJC, NYDOH, DEA, FDA, NIH)
- Maintain aseptic techniques and sterile product preparation areas
- Manage controlled substances records, inventory, and environmental monitoring such as refrigerator/freezer temperatures
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, develop dispensing procedures, and troubleshoot EHR pharmacy modules
Qualifications:
- Valid NYS Pharmacist license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years hospital pharmacy experience, preferably involving investigational drug products and sterile compounding
- Experience preparing IV medications and working in a cleanroom
- Proficiency with hospital EHR systems (Cerner, EPIC, or similar) and automated drug dispensing machines
- Ability to independently interpret clinical trial protocols and dispense drugs accordingly
- Strong organizational skills to maintain ongoing documentation and records
- Certification in sterile and non-sterile product preparation (BCSCP) preferred or willingness to obtain
