Pharmacist - Cambridge, MA

A healthcare organization specializing in home infusion therapies is seeking a PRN Staff Pharmacist to provide essential clinical pharmacy support for patients requiring IV and infusion services. This role is ideal for a licensed pharmacist with expertise in sterile compounding and infusion therapy, who can deliver safe and effective pharmaceutical care in a dynamic outpatient setting.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and process physician orders, verifying insurance benefits to ensure proper medication delivery
• Perform sterile compounding and assist in maintaining cleanroom operations in compliance with USP 797 standards
• Dispense medications and infusion-related supplies accurately and safely
• Maintain meticulous patient and pharmacy records aligned with federal and state regulations
• Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to uphold operational efficiency
• Manage assigned patient caseloads and provide coverage for pharmacists as needed

Schedule:

• Initial training: 4-8 days to become proficient with the EMR system
• Ongoing shifts: Typically 2 days per month with flexible scheduling, plus additional PRN coverage as required
• Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on site
• Immediate coverage needed for the weeks of July 6-10 and July 13-17, and select dates through December

Qualifications:

• Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License in good standing
• Minimum of 1+ year pharmacy experience; 2+ years clinical pharmacy experience preferred
• Experience with infusion therapy and sterile compounding strongly preferred
• Thorough knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards required
• Strong communication, multitasking, time management, and critical-thinking skills
