A healthcare organization specializing in home infusion services is seeking a PRN Staff Pharmacist to provide clinical pharmacy support focused on IV and infusion therapies for patients with acute and chronic medical needs. This role requires on-site presence in Cambridge, MA, and offers flexible scheduling with essential coverage dates throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process physician orders; verify insurance benefits to ensure proper billing
- Perform sterile compounding and support cleanroom operations in compliance with USP 797 standards
- Ensure safe and accurate dispensing of medications and infusion-related supplies
- Maintain comprehensive patient and pharmacy records adhering to federal and state regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy support staff
- Manage assigned patient caseloads and provide coverage for other pharmacists as needed
Schedule / Shift Details:
- Initial 4-8 days of training on the EMR system
- Approximately 2 scheduled days per month with flexible timing
- Additional PRN coverage as needed on specific dates
- Shifts run from 9 AM to 5 PM, on-site
Urgent coverage dates include: July 6–10, July 13–17, August 31, September 1–4, September 25, and December 11.
Qualifications:
- Active MA Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience; 2+ years clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience with infusion therapy and/or sterile compounding is highly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards required
- Strong communication, multitasking, time management, and critical-thinking skills
