An opportunity is available for a seasoned Pharmacy Manager to lead pharmacy operations within a specialty pharmacy setting. This role demands a proactive leader who ensures safe medication practices, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care. The position collaborates extensively with Intake, Referral Services, Nursing/Clinical teams, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations to optimize pharmacy performance.
Location:
- Onsite in Cambridge, MA
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Weekend on-call rotation
Contract Details:
- Contract to Hire
- Immediate start preferred
- Initial 13-week assignment with potential extension to 26 weeks
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee prescription review, verification, and dispensing processes in accordance with regulatory bodies including State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, and ACHC
- Deliver patient counseling and manage medication therapy for specialty disease states
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns, providing guidance and support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth patient onboarding and prescription fulfillment
- Support documentation, quality assurance initiatives, and incident resolution
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and operational workflows
- Participate in on-call weekend rotations as required
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License (required)
- Connecticut Pharmacist License preferred or willingness to obtain promptly
- BS or PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- Minimum 3 years of experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, or similar pharmacy environments
- Background in specialty pharmacy operations, payer requirements, and clinical coordination
- Experience supervising or working closely with pharmacy technicians
- Strong knowledge of specialty therapies and patient qualification processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and pharmacy software; familiarity with CareTend preferred
- Retail-only experience will not meet requirements
