Pharmacist | Chesapeake, Virginia

A healthcare facility in Chesapeake, VA, seeks an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist for a 13-week contract starting June 29. This role requires managing medication therapies within a fast-paced hospital environment, ensuring safe and accurate pharmaceutical care for inpatients.

Schedule/Hours:

• Rotating shifts
• Day shifts: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Evening shifts: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
• Overnight shifts: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM, 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM

Responsibilities:

• Verify and process medication orders accurately and efficiently
• Monitor and manage pain-controlled analgesia and antibiotic regimens
• Assess potential drug interactions and ensure safe medication use
• Perform order entry and manage IV medications
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Utilize EPIC electronic medical records for documentation and communication
• Apply clinical knowledge to dosing adjustments, particularly pharmacokinetic and renal dosing (preferred)
• Manage chemotherapy and anticoagulant therapies (preferred)

Qualifications:

• Current Virginia pharmacist license required at time of application (no exceptions)
• Minimum one year of inpatient pharmacy experience mandated
• EPIC EMR experience required
• IV medication administration and medication order verification experience necessary
• Familiarity with chemotherapy, anticoagulants, and pharmacokinetic dosing strongly preferred
• Previous travel pharmacy experience is advantageous
