Two direct hire opportunities are available immediately for inpatient Oncology/Hematology pharmacists at a distinguished medical center in Chicago. These roles suit pharmacists with a passion for acute care oncology and a foundation in hematology, offering a dynamic inpatient schedule with day and evening shifts and rotating weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary rounds for malignant hematology, medical oncology, gynecologic oncology, and stem cell transplant (SCT) teams daily.
- Review and monitor drug therapy, ensuring safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Reconcile home medications for admitted patients and clarify medication orders with healthcare teams.
- Provide patient and caregiver counseling on medication regimens, adherence, and possible adverse effects.
- Offer pharmacokinetic consultations, including dose adjustments for specialized antibiotics.
- Monitor and report adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
- Verify chemotherapy orders and support nursing staff with medication inquiries.
- Participate in order verification and support chemotherapy desensitizations in the ICU as needed.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Illinois.
- Completion of a PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Hematology/Oncology highly preferred.
- Board Certification (BCOP) required prior to or within 18 months of hire.
- BLS Certification.
- Strong knowledge of intravenous admixture services, drug therapy, chemotherapy, and cellular therapies.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Additional Information:
- Experience in oncology is essential; residency-trained candidates preferred but those with solid oncology experience will be considered.
- Work with EPIC electronic medical records.
- The client supports candidates pursuing Illinois licensure.
- Compensation varies based on experience, with PGY2-trained pharmacists receiving competitive rates.
