This long-term care pharmacist role offers a contract opportunity in Chicora, PA, providing essential pharmacy services to skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice settings. The position supports medication safety and effectiveness through thorough review and verification processes, ensuring quality care for vulnerable populations.
Schedule & Hours:
- 40 hours per week
- Pharmacy hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Sunday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians
- Check blister-packed medications as well as sterile and non-sterile preparations
- Communicate with nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians to answer clinical questions
- Count controlled substances and maintain accurate perpetual inventory records
- Check emergency medication boxes ensuring readiness and compliance
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution
- Registered pharmacist licensed in Pennsylvania and in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacist experience; long-term care experience preferred
- Proficient with QS1, Docutrack, and PCC operating systems
- Ability to sit, stand, perform fine motor tasks, and have sharp visual acuity
- Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds
