A well-established pharmacy is seeking a licensed Pharmacist for a 4-week contract opportunity in Chula Vista, CA. This role offers a chance to contribute your pharmacy expertise while supporting patient care in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a CA pharmacist license and is available for immediate start with a 2nd shift schedule of 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, including rotating weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal and safety guidelines.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify potential overuse or misuse.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and answer medication-related questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter drugs, including dosage and drug interaction information.
- Support patient wellness by providing services such as smoking cessation and blood pressure monitoring.
- Educate patients on proper handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
- Compound medications as needed, preparing sterile solutions using appropriate techniques.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories efficiently.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to resolve drug-related issues and optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Active California Pharmacist license.
- Retail pharmacy experience is welcome; training available for retail pharmacists ready to transition.
- Strong communication skills with both patients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and supervise pharmacy personnel.
Schedule:
- 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Rotating weekends required
