Pharmacist - Cooperstown, New York

A 13-week travel contract opportunity is available for a skilled pharmacist to support inpatient pharmacy services in a hospital setting near Oneonta, New York. This role offers a comprehensive full travel package that includes housing, meals, and mileage reimbursement.

Work Schedule:

• 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
• Shift options include:
  • 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
  • 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Weekends and holidays are generally not required; occasional every third weekend rotation may occur depending on leave needs
• No formal on-call rotation currently; well-trained travelers may be asked to cover approximately 2 to 3 nights per week

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and dispense medication orders accurately while overseeing pharmacy technicians
• Provide pharmacokinetic dosing support for medications such as vancomycin and aminoglycosides
• Manage general inpatient pharmacy workflow and offer clinical support
• Ensure strict compliance with sterile compounding procedures, including technician oversight, USP 797 and 800 standards, proper garbing, gloving, hand hygiene, finger-tip testing, and media-fill competency
• Work within an automated inpatient pharmacy environment using Epic EMR and BD Pyxis dispensing systems

Qualifications:

• Active New York State Pharmacist License (mandatory)
• Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience (retail/outpatient experience alone is insufficient)
• Demonstrated sterile compounding expertise compliant with USP 797 and 800 regulations
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree (PharmD preferred but not required)
• Comfortable with onsite orientation and training period of at least 2 weeks
• Experience with Epic and Pyxis preferred
• Willingness to potentially provide float coverage at a nearby hospital location
