This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care and ensure safe, efficient drug distribution to patients. The pharmacist will be responsible for managing medication therapy, collaborating closely with healthcare professionals, and overseeing the pharmacy operations to maintain the highest standards of practice and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include accurately interpreting medication orders, dispensing prescriptions, reviewing patient drug therapies for efficacy and safety, administering immunizations, and providing counseling to patients. The pharmacist will also monitor medication storage and usage, document and report medication errors, and assist in supervising pharmacy staff. A commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to all applicable laws and regulations is essential.

Key duties:

  • Dispense medications and pharmaceutical products accurately and efficiently.
  • Review and monitor patient medical and pharmaceutical records for drug interactions, adverse reactions, and contraindications.
  • Communicate with physicians and nurses regarding patient drug therapy.
  • Administer immunizations as certified.
  • Monitor prescription processing to ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain records of controlled substances and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain certifications such as Basic Cardiac Life Support and Immunization certification.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Active pharmacist license in the state of Iowa.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Immunization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
