A veterinary compounding pharmacy is seeking a Staff Pharmacist with expertise in equine or veterinary/animal compounding to support their growing team. This temp-to-hire role is an immediate replacement opportunity based in Cullman, AL, offering a chance to contribute to exceptional care for animal patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support a team of 3–4 pharmacy technicians.
- Verify prescriptions and manage daily pharmacy workflow.
- Review and oversee 25–30 regularly reordered formularies.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team to maintain efficient operations.
- Provide leadership with a strong focus on animal patient care.
- Assist with inventory and operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Active Pharmacist license meeting state requirements.
- Experience specifically in equine pharmacy or veterinary/animal compounding; human compounding alone is not sufficient.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Demonstrated excellent work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond.
- Quick learner adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to following procedures and delivering quality care for animal patients.
Pharmacy Overview:
- Focus on veterinary and equine compounding, primarily non-sterile with some sterile prescriptions.
- Approximately 200+ prescriptions shipped daily.
- Team includes four pharmacists, each supervising 3–4 technicians.
- Uses PK Software for compounding order entry and QuickBooks Online for invoicing; transitioning to Pharmetica in fall.
