This opportunity involves working under the direction of the Retail Pharmacy Manager to oversee procurement, distribution, storage, and dispensing of medications while ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compound and dispense prescribed medications accurately and efficiently.
- Review physician-issued prescriptions to confirm accuracy and required ingredients.
- Direct pharmacy staff involved in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Counsel pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosages, and storage as requested.
- Maintain quality assurance procedures and secure handling of controlled substances.
- Enter accurate patient and medication data into pharmacy systems.
- Teach and supervise interns and staff to maintain compliance with pharmacist-to-technician ratios.
- Resolve third-party prescription system issues promptly.
- Foster strong working relationships with healthcare professionals.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current on pharmacy laws, regulations, and programs.
- Address customer needs professionally and maintain confidentiality.
- Maximize retail sales while controlling expenses.
- Maintain and communicate pharmacy policies effectively.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in California.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an accredited institution.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding retail pharmacy.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday.
- 8-hour shifts during daytime hours.
