A veterinary compounding pharmacy is seeking an experienced Staff Pharmacist to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis with an immediate start. This role focuses on delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care tailored to animal patients, particularly within equine and veterinary compounding. The position involves leadership responsibilities overseeing pharmacy technicians and supporting daily operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of 3–4 pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Verify prescriptions and manage pharmacy workflow efficiently.
  • Review and oversee approximately 25–30 regularly reordered veterinary formularies.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to maintain operational excellence.
  • Assist with inventory management and operational oversight as needed.

Pharmacy Environment:

  • Specializes in veterinary and equine compounding, primarily non-sterile with some sterile prescriptions.
  • Processes over 200 prescriptions daily.
  • Uses PK Software for compounding order entry and QuickBooks Online for invoicing; transitioning to Pharmetica scheduled for the fall.
  • Team includes 4 pharmacists, each managing 3–4 pharmacy technicians.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active pharmacist license meeting state requirements.
  • Experience specifically in equine or veterinary/animal compounding (human compounding alone is not sufficient).
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with an excellent work ethic.
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to following established procedures and delivering high-quality patient care for animals.
