Pharmacist | Denham Springs, Louisiana

A pharmacist opportunity is available with a focus on Medication Therapy Management for a 13-week contract-to-hire position. This role offers flexibility with onsite or remote work options. Candidates must hold a current Louisiana pharmacist license and possess multiple state licenses—at a minimum, licenses in Louisiana plus at least five from the following states: DC, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming are highly emphasized.

Schedule:

• Full-time, 13-week contract-to-hire

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medication orders according to physician requests, adhering to policies and protocols.
• Accurately interpret verbal and written prescriptions and enter information into computerized medication profiles.
• Maintain accurate and complete pharmacy patient medication records.
• Dispense pharmaceuticals and controlled substances while complying with legal requirements.
• Ensure safe, cost-effective, and appropriate drug therapies following established procedures.
• Monitor drug regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and dosage accuracy.
• Detect and report adverse drug reactions promptly.
• Provide clinical consultation and recommend cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff.
• Document clinical activities and interventions thoroughly and accurately.
• Participate in quality improvement, medication use reviews, inspections, and record-keeping.
• Supervise pharmacy support personnel and verify their daily activities.
• Organize and prioritize pharmacy operations to ensure timely service delivery.
• Conduct medication storage area inspections and manage outdated drugs.
• Professionally handle telephone and in-person requests at the pharmacy window.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy settings.
• Current Louisiana pharmacist license.
• Multiple state pharmacist licenses, with a plan to obtain at least 10 states (other than Louisiana) within 18 months.
