Pharmacist - Denham Springs, Louisiana

A healthcare facility located in Zachary, LA, is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to provide inpatient pharmacy services on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to support a 131-bed hospital with an average daily census of 60-70 patients, aiming to reach 80. The position requires a Louisiana pharmacist license and inpatient experience; sterile compounding and EPIC EMR training are preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services with a focus on medication safety and accuracy
• Perform sterile compounding and IV preparation, collaborating with pharmacy technicians
• Utilize EPIC EMR for order entry and medication verification (training provided if needed)
• Manage inventory and medication distribution using Pyxis systems
• Participate in rotating on-call coverage, approximately 5-7 days per month
• Work varied shifts between 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM, including weekends, totaling 40 hours per week

Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana pharmacist license required
• Experience in inpatient pharmacy settings preferred
• Sterile compounding skills highly desired
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR system strongly preferred; training available
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations

Schedule:

• Shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM
• Weekend coverage required
• 40 hours per week total, with varied days and shifts

This contract role offers a minimum 90-day commitment with the possibility for extension and consideration for temp-to-perm placement. Support is provided by a well-established pharmacy team including 6 pharmacist FTEs and 3 pharmacy tech FTEs.
