Provide expert clinical pharmacy care focused on infectious diseases in a full-time, direct hire role located in Detroit, MI. This position offers an opportunity to work within an advanced healthcare setting, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize antimicrobial therapy and improve patient outcomes in infectious disease management.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver primary and consultative pharmacy services in infectious diseases, ensuring optimal drug utilization.
- Review medication orders for appropriateness, dosing accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct pharmacokinetic assessments and adjust drug therapies accordingly.
- Participate in patient care rounds and collaborate with healthcare providers to recommend antibiotic selection and dosing.
- Oversee and train technical staff, pharmacists, interns, and provide education to pharmacy students and medical residents.
- Obtain medication histories, monitor profiles, and provide ambulatory medication consultations.
- Develop and deliver educational programs for patients and healthcare professionals.
- Engage in clinical research, preparing reports and participating in scholarly activities.
- Participate in medication use evaluations (MUE), adverse drug reaction (ADR) activities, and committee functions related to medication management.
- Adhere to all institutional policies and maintain a safe, professional working environment.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- One to two years of clinical pharmacy experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- PGY-2 Infectious Diseases residency training and/or Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (BCIDP) certification preferred.
- Registered Pharmacist with Controlled Substance licensure in Michigan obtained within three months of hire.
- Strong knowledge of microbiology, pharmacokinetics, and antimicrobial stewardship principles.
