Provide specialized clinical pharmacy care in infectious diseases within a dynamic hospital environment in Detroit, MI. This full-time day role involves delivering primary and consultative pharmacy services aimed at optimizing antimicrobial therapy and overall drug utilization. The position supports antimicrobial stewardship efforts to improve patient outcomes while reducing antibiotic resistance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing medication orders for accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and appropriate selection and dosing
  • Conducting pharmacokinetic analyses and therapeutic monitoring
  • Participating in patient care rounds and collaborating with healthcare teams
  • Leading or supporting Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASP)
  • Managing therapeutic drug monitoring including vancomycin, aminoglycosides, and antifungals
  • Interpreting microbiology data such as cultures and sensitivities
  • Developing guidelines, order sets, and formulary restrictions for antimicrobial use
  • Educating clinicians and trainees on best practices in infectious disease pharmacotherapy
  • Overseeing and training pharmacy students, residents, and technical staff
  • Engaging in clinical research, medication use evaluations (MUEs), and adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) required
  • PGY-1 residency completed; PGY-2 in Infectious Diseases preferred
  • Board certification in Infectious Diseases Pharmacy (BCIDP) preferred
  • Registered Pharmacist and Controlled Substance licensure in Michigan to be obtained within 3 months
  • Strong expertise in microbiology, pharmacokinetics, and antimicrobial stewardship principles
  • One to two years of clinical pharmacy experience in a healthcare setting recommended
