Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify prescriptions from physicians and authorized prescribers for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Determine formulas and ingredients required for compounding medications
  • Compound sterile and non-sterile medications, ensuring adherence to standard formulas and protocols, including weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients accurately
  • Oversee pharmacy staff involved in medication mixing, packaging, and labeling processes
  • Dispense medications accurately and provide counseling to nursing facility staff regarding prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards in all pharmacy operations

Desired Experience:

  • Licensed pharmacist with experience in long-term care pharmacy settings
  • Proficiency in compounding sterile and non-sterile medications
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and medication management
  • Ability to supervise pharmacy staff and coordinate workflow
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively counsel nursing facility personnel
